Our second day in Lithuania was very busy. We travelled by bus to the town of Tytuvénai. In the Monastery we learned about the tradition of using herbs with a workshop. We created a fragrant and totally compostable key ring using a great variety of herbs. After that, we had the opportunity to try different types of cheese made with different herbs, and we also enjoyed a cup of nice tea.
We continued our journey to our next destination: Siauliai, the fourth-largest city in Lithuania. After lunch, we went to the chocolate factory, where we created different types of chocolates and sweet marzipan. It was a very nice experience as we could use different ingredients to create our own chocolates.
After the workshop, we visited the museum, and we learned about the history of chocolate and the history of the 100-year-old factory.
After some free time in the center of Siauliai, we walked around a beautiful park where the bus was waiting for us to return to Kaunas.
On our way to Kaunas, we stopped at a unique place: the hill of Crosses. People voluntarily bring crosses, mostly made of wood, to this hill to pray or thank god. There are thousands of crosses on a hill surrounded by fields in the lovely Lithuanian countryside.
