Today, when we arrived at the school, the students were divided into three different groups, each of them had four Spanish students, two Portuguese tourism students and some Portuguese design students. Then we took a 40 minute train trip to go to one of the biggest cities in Portugal: Porto.
Once in Porto, tourism students were in charge of showing us the most popular places of the city and explaining the story behind them. We visited the Mercado do Bolhão, São Bento railway station and Rua Santa Catarina. The latter was a long street full of shops where we could spend some time before having lunch.
We ate a sandwich and continued through one of the most picturesque avenues such as Rua de las Flores, where we could admire the lovely, ancient and colorful facades. The tour ended in la Ribeira do Douro, where we took some pictures by the river banks and said goodbye to our Portuguese colleagues who had been with us the whole week and now have become friends.
At the end, we visited by ourselves some interesting attractions we couldn’t see with the tour such as Saint Ildefonso’s church and the Porto Cathedral (or Sé do Porto). From the Dom Luís I bridge we overlooked the beautiful sunset and some Rabelo boats. We ended the day having dinner at taberna do Doutor and returned to Matosinhos by metro.
